Casita Azul's approach is rooted in its focus on community, education and the environment. Using the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as guidance, here are some ways that we support people and the planet.
No Poverty
As part of the larger Las Nubes Project Casita Azul Library creates capacity for the local communities to access basic technology and information services. Our involvement in the delivery of programs and workshops increases the community's access to skills, knowledge, and opportunities to improve their circumstances.
Quality Education
Casita Azul Partners with local primary schools providing through literacy programs, computer literacy education, and environmental education. Workshops and courses are offered throughout the year to community members to supplement their academic skills. Additionally we host activities to promote environmental sustainability in the community.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Casita Azul organizes, facilitates, and promotes education opportunities for community members to learn and increase their knowledge of starting and managing local businesses which contribute to economic growth.
Climate Action
We partner with local organizations--such as the Los Cusingos bird sanctuary and ASADA (water management)--to advance conservation, restoration, recycling, and sustainability education projects within the local communities. Part of this involves working with local community members to organize recycling campaigns and events.
