York University Libraries (YUL) is pleased to announce the release of The Abstract, a triannual newsletter designed to shared collections-related updates with the campus community. Collections are at the heart of the Libraries’ mission to support teaching, learning and research at York. In this first issue, we highlight important trends that are changing the landscape of scholarly publishing -  from currency fluctuations and inflationary pressures, to the growing Open Access movement. We also showcase notable additions to the collections and highlight some of the advocacy work being done to make our research collections more responsive, most notably in the areas of indigenous content and improving database design.
