Open Access Week is a global initiative held to raise awareness around issues of equity in access to research, and to visualize and work towards models that ensure scholarship is available to all, not only to those fortunate enough to be affiliated with a wealthy institution. This year Open Access Week is being held October 20 – 26.

The film chronicles the remarkable life of Aaron Swartz, a tireless advocate against censorship and for public access to academic research. We are pleased to announce that Professor Carys Craig, Associate Dean of Research and Institutional Relations, Osgoode Hall Law School, will be introducing the film. Professor Craig is a renowned copyright scholar and author of Copyright, Communication & Culture: Towards a Relational Theory of Copyright Law (Northampton, MA: Edward Elgar Press, 2011). The screening will take place on Friday, October 24 from 2 – 4 pm in Osgoode Hall 1001.
