If you're a regular around the Bronfman Business Library you may have noticed a new addition that we've added for the new academic year: our Business Bestsellers!
These titles are sourced from a number of different bestseller lists, but right now we're featuring last year's shortlist for the Financial Times Best Business Book of the Year Award. According to FT, these books are "judged to have provided the most compelling and enjoyable insight into modern business issues" ("Business Book," 2013).
We have also placed orders for the long list for 2013 and they are slowly coming into the library... Though one of them won't be published until next year in North America, so we might not have the complete set.
If you're interesting in following the developments of the Awards process you can read up on it on the FT website. The Winner should be announced November 18th!
The shortlist for this year was just announced on September 19th and they are:
- The Alchemists: Three Central Bankers and a World on Fire (US subtitle) by Neil Irwin
- Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think by Viktor Mayer-Schönberger and Kenneth Cukier (they have a copy over at the Steacie Science & Engineering Library and our copy is coming soon!)
- The Billionaire’s Apprentice: The Rise of The Indian-American Elite and The Fall of The Galleon Hedge Fund by Anita Raghavan (arriving soon!)
- The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone
- Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg
- Making it Happen: Fred Goodwin, RBS and the Men Who Blew Up the British Economy by Iain Martin
If you have any suggestions for additions to our new Bestsellers category, please feel free to email Kim Stymest at stymest@yorku.ca.
